Used 1984 Mercedes-Benz 280SE for sale in New brighton, MN

This 1984 280 SE features euro specs not offered on U.S. export models. The 2.8 twin cam straight six has a ridiculous amount of torque, and is well-mated to a 4 speed manual gearbox for a classic and fun to drive combination. Also unique are the euro headlights - many years ahead of their time with separate driving lights that truly widen the lit area at night (not legal on U.S. models at that time). Mercedes spent several years and millions of dollars developing the W126 chassis, and the results speak for themselves... these cars are prevalent throughout the world, and really stand the tests of time and hold up well as the years go by. That established, here’s a partial list of maintenance items completed in the 15 years I’ve had the car: lower ball joints, tie rods, steering arm, idler arm, motor mounts, front torsion bar, front coil springs, valve guid seals, injectors, warm-up regulator, ignition cylinder, fuel pump, accumulator (a part that needs regular replacement on these cars - any starting issues generally indicate a new accumulator is needed- FYI). Naturally, routine maintenance has also been done religiously, such as filters, plugs, wires, cap/rotor, brake pads (and parking brake shoes), Hardi disks (driveshaft), power antenna, new (high-flow) exhaust w/Mercedes resonator, battery, fuel sender, clutch slave cylinder... yeah, I’ve done some work on this vehicle over the years! What that means for the buyer is that there are many years of trouble-free driving in store. You’ll notice the wood panels are in excellent shape (most have been reglued, as the veneer typically separates from the aluminum and base wood with age). Pneumatic central locking works well, as does the automatic temperature control - there is no A/C. The sunroof seals have been replaced, and the cable/tube cleaned and lubed. The cloth seats are in fine shape under the sheepskin... if it’s important to you I will remove the covers and take photos, but it’s not very easy. New set of floormats and numerous other parts included. Michelin HydroEdge tires in great shape. Car was repainted in 2004 after part of an oak tree fell on it :( and there is some rust in the typical Mercedes places. MPG is mid 20’s, it’s happy tooling around town, or tearing up the highways as though it was back home on the Autobahn. Drives and handles like a car many years newer than it is, and I would argue better than many cars being built today!
