The Mexico was originally commissioned by an important client to Maserati, however the car was so well received that Maserati decided to put the Mexico into limited production. The model was produced from 1966 through 1973, during that time only 484 units were completed. Optioned amenities included electric windows, air conditioning, automatic transmission, power steering and radio, while receiving some 'firsts' for Maserati, such as servo assisted ventilated disc brakes on all four corners. This particular car, chassis no. 382 was ordered by Dr. Salvatore Pinna of Rome, Italy on April 16, 1968 and delivered new on July 2, 1968 to Dr. Pinna wearing Argento Auteuil (Silver) paint over Black Connoly leather upholstery.
