Looking for the ultimate commuter car? Want something that’s fun, sporty, and gets insanely good MPG? Look no further! This 2005 VW Golf TDI is what you need. It looks perfect from 30 feet, but really shows it age up close, but what are you expecting with a car with 200k miles on it. The reason you will buy this is for the 35-45 mpg (my personal best was 55!) and for those of you that love to drive it does have the sought after 5 speed manual transmission. This golf has all new Bilstein shocks on it so it drives smooth and comfy (heated seats make it even better) and for those of you that want a sportier look it comes with some extra lowering springs that are not installed.
Its an old diesel VW so yes, it does have a small oil leak, and it has some dash lights on. They are known for issues like that. But they don’t affect the way it drives. The glove box is broken, but I have a replacement. The front left wheel bearing will need to be replaced at some point as it has started to squeal. The timing belt was replaced at 173K miles, there is a new fuel pump and oil pan. It is not a perfect car, but is a great reliable, fuel efficient commuter car.
