Like the title states, the car is a Limited Series 2003 Mercedes-Benz SL500 Designo Launch Edition, finished in Designo Silver Metallic over Charcoal Nappa leather. There were only 1500 Launch Edition SL500's made. This car features the Launch Edition package ($9,500 factory option) which includes this special silver metallic paint only available on the Launch Edition, Nappa leather interior, walnut wood trim on the steering wheel and shift knob, 5 spoke 18" wheels only available on the Launch Edition, black alacantara headliner, heated and cooled seats that also massage, and bi-Xenon HID headlights. The car also features an 8-speaker Bose Audio Pilot sound system, as well as Mercedes COMAND navigation system with a six disc CD changer.

A 2003 Mercedes-Benz SL500 Designo Launch Edition features a 5.0L V8 DOHC 32V engine which produced 302bhp at 5600RPM and 339ft-lb of torque at 2700RPM through a five speed automatic transmission that can be manually shifted from the cockpit. This rear wheel drive sport coupe has rack and pinion steering with independent front and rear suspension and rides on special edition five-spoke 18″ alloy wheels which are wrapped in New matching Parelli tires with less than 1,000 miles and measuring 255/40 up front and 285/35 in the rear.

This luxury sport convertible has a driver’s and passenger’s side airbag, front side air bag with head protection, four wheel anti-lock brakes, trunk anti-trap device, theft deterrent and Bi-Xenon headlamps. The 2003 SL500 was the first generation of SL to feature an electronic folding hard top, replacing the cloth top and plastic windows of the past. This model includes a six-disc CD stereo, power windows, power and heated mirrors, rain sensitive wipers, telescopic tilt steering, load leveling functioning, individual climate controls, navigation and parking aids and comes with factory books and manual.

The car has spent its life in the desert southwest only coming from AZ to MN Via Carrier in March of 2020 and placed directly into temperature and climate controlled indoor storage at my auto condo in Hutchinson, MN.

Again the power comes from a 5.0 liter V8, rated at 302 horsepower and 339 lb-ft of torque, fed to the rear tires via a 5-speed automatic with buttons on the steering wheel to manually control shifts. The retracting hard top works as it should, as does the roll bar that can be raised and lowered electronically for added safety when the top is down.

This is an incredibly nice car, with only 26,000 miles from new. It still looks like a brand new car. The car needs nothing from its next owner, other than to be driven. Original MSRP on this car was nearly $98,000 including the $9500.00 Launch Edition option.
